About the area #
Hobart’s Eastern Shore is in the City of Clarence and has a
population of around 55,000 living on the eastern shore of the Derwent River from Otago to
the South Arm Peninsula and in the smaller
localities of Cambridge, Richmond, and Seven Mile Beach. The main commercial district is Rosny Park, which is only 5km from Hobart's CBD. In area Clarence is one of the largest cities in Australia,
covering over 386 square km, with 191 km of coastline,
including over twenty beaches. More than a third of its area is natural bushland,
with many parks and nature reserves. A unique feature of both shores of the Derwent - including Clarence - is that housing is only
built to a certain height, preserving the natural skyline along the hill tops.
Under Construction #
The generous land sizes of the original properties that line Bass and La Perouse Street have allowed for the reduction of backyards of the existing properties, so that a large area to the rear of the homes could be merged to create room for 11 one-bedroom units.
This conveniently located and relatively flat parcel of land provides easily accessible units with close proximity to services and transport, suited to the elderly or those with mobility issues.
The existing properties lining Bass and La Perouse streets have been tastefully refurbished with external finishes that harmonise the existing and new buildings.
